pixilation animation

Pixilation is where live actors are used as a frame - by frame subject in an animated film. they repeatedly pose while one or more frames are being taken then u change pose as the next set of frames being taken. this technique is usually used to blend in live actors and animated characters.

the disadvantages of using pixilation animation is that when using live actors you have to make sure the last position u finished in is the first position u start with because if you don't you could mess it up also your shadows won't look the same, also because the process is long to make.
The advantages that i found were that you can literally make the actors do most things.

I have watched leap of  faith by the band i thought this video was interesting because the video was  created by using objects as wel as using live actors. I think the "human skate board" one is better because I thought it was more creative, in the sense they used a human as an object.

Out of  pixilation animation and object animation i think that object animation is more creative because you can make an object be any thing you want, but with pixilation animation i think that you are limted to the things you can make a human do or be.

Object animation

object animation is when you use objects from as big as a table or even bigger to as little as a rubber to make an animation. it is a form of stop motion animation, that envolves the animated movment of any non-drawn objects. Object animation is usually combined with other types of animation like model or puppet animation to create a more realistic effect.

Pes is an object animator he does different themes and uses a range of object from cup cakes to chairs. i find object animation fun because you can make a object become anything you want from chairs being humans to candles being bullets.

The advantages of object animation is that you can make an object do most things and that the lighting, camera movement and spatial relationship are not virtual. The disadvantages is that the bigger the object the harder it is to move it around  and make it do any kind of movement, also i think it may be harder to tell a story with objects because it doesn't have any facial expressions.

cut out animation

Cut out animation is animated by using flat characters ,props, surfaces from different materials like paper, card, stiff fabric and photographs.
Animators that have used these techniques are Terry Gilliam and Lotte reiniger, there style is simmilar in a way that they both have a element of using cartoon. Terry Gillam cut out animation are more realistic than Lotte Reiniger beacuse he has cut out photographs, which show human and showing a human gives it facial expressions and looks more realistic.

The advantages is that it is easy to make being the process is not long and time consuming.
The disadvantages is that you have make sure your camera and lighting positioning are correct and stay in the same positions. Also you have to be patient with the firmness and rapidness of the characters movement by having to pause a lot. With cut out animation doing a close up of a characters face is not ideal when having dialogue because it is hard to get the characters to lip sync.

Out of drawn animation and cut out animation i don't know which one i would choose because they both have there advantages which are cut out is less time consuming which for solo animators is good.

Drawn animation

Drawn animations is the traditional way of making an animation. they are special because they have no limatation except which you can probably argue that fact that you can not make a cartoon in the genre horror. cartoons can do anything you want them to do. being a cartoon they seem to get away with anything from being abusive and using bad language, cartoons usally bring fantasy to life even though they mainly appeal to children some of them use adult content. today we caculated how many frames it would take to draw when taking a sip of a drink, we caculated it by knowing that it is 25 frames per sec divided by 2 then we timed how long it took one of us to take a sip three times.

Walt disney is one of the most famous drawn animators around he is most famous for his disney character Mickey mouse.

Drawn animation requires working in a team because you have to make sure you get the drawings precise and you need co- ordination, Drawn animation is time consuming because you have to keep drawing each movement you make your character do.

Advantages are that you can make your character do anything and look however you want it to look, also you can make your character get away with literally anything, drawn animation  can be diverse you can make it appeal to both children and also make it appeal to the adults.
Disadvantages drawn animation is very time consuming and you need a lot of people to help, also getting each drawing the same but with a slight difference

STOP MOTION VIDEO

Hope you like it :)

PHI

PHI phenomenon is a result in human instinct. where our brains try to make meaning from what we see, so when we see images close together our brains try to make a relationship between the two images which result in movement. PHI is often confused with beta movement, but it is a distinct phenomenon not directly involved in the perception of motion pictures.
Here is an example of PHI:

An example of PHI is a called a zeotrope
